Company Support Representative – Staff Position
DeafConnect of the Mid-South, Inc. is seeking for a qualified candidate for the position of Scheduling Coordinator. DeafConnect is charged by the Tennessee Council of the Deaf, Deaf/Blind, and Hard of Hearing (TCDDBHH) to serve individuals in these communities in their communication needs and assist in their access to community services.
Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors as they enter the building and answer phone and text messages
  • Monitor the public areas including Public VP rooms
  • Keep DeafConnect’s property clean and organized
  • Monitor and maintain DeafConnect’s social media outlets
  • Making sure office supplies are filled and stocked
  • Assist with any projects for department directors or assigned by executive director

Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of software or programs used for creating and editing flyers, videos, newsletters
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language is required.
  • Willingness to work in a diversified community with sensorial disabilities

Scheduling Coordinator – Staff Position
DeafConnect of the Mid-South, Inc. is seeking for a qualified candidate for the position of Scheduling Coordinator. DeafConnect is charged by the Tennessee Council of the Deaf, Deaf/Blind, and Hard of Hearing (TCDDBHH) to serve individuals in these communities in their communication needs and assist in their access to community services.
Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling customers’ request for interpreting services
  • Provide advocacy services for the Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing persons, and business as appropriate
  • Participate in the On-Call rotation with other employees
  • Assist with in-office duties as needed, per to Department supervisor and/or Execuitve Director

Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • General knowledgeable of American with Disabilities Act and interpreter certification is preferred, but not required
  • Fluency in American Sign Language. If not, must be willing to learn sign language to communicate with Deaf coworkers
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English is required
  • Must have own transportation
  • Willingness to work in a diversified community with sensorial disabilities

American Sign Language Interpreter – Staff Position
DeafConnect of the Mid-South, Inc. – Memphis, TNPosition: Full time staff ASL interpreter at DeafConnect of the Mid-South, Inc. serving the Deaf/HOH/DeafBlind community in West Tennessee and Memphis Metropolitan areas.
Responsibilities:

  • Interpret/transliterate (sign-to-voice & voice-to-sign) in a variety of situations including: medical, educational, employment, business, social services, & legal
  • Assist with clients (walk-ins & VP)
  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

Requirements:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language
  • Nationally certified – NAD IV/V or RID CI, CT, CI/CT, CSC or NIC, NIC Advanced, NIC Master, EIPA 4.0 or above
  • Excellent work ethic and time management skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Team player
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multi-calls
  • Compliance with DeafConnect policies and RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Continued professional development (Interpreting skills)
  • Willingness to complete additional duties and assignments
  • Dependable transportation
  • Participate in on-call rotation
